  1.   Welcome to the Citadel-86 bulletin board system.  Feel free to experiment
  2. with commands you don't understand -- you can't hurt the system...
  3.  
  4.   If you're new to this system and haven't logged in yet, <G>oto the mail
  5. and <R>ead the letter
  6. you'll (hopefully) find there regarding this particular BBS's policy.
  7.  
  8.   The simplest pattern of usage is: 
  9.  
  10.   *  <L>og in.    The system will remember your terminal configuration and which
  11. messages are new since you last visited a room. 
  12.  
  13.   *  Use <G>oto to find a room with messages you haven't read.
  14.  
  15.   *  Use <N>ew messages to read them.  Use <J>ump, <N>ext, <P>ause or <S>top to
  16. control typout.
  17.     <J>ump will skip to the start of the next paragraph of a message;
  18.     <N>ext will skip to the start of the next message;
  19.     <P>ause will halt typout until another key is pressed;
  20.     <S>top will return immediately to the command prompt.
  21.  (These will work any time the system is typing out
  22. something.  Now, for instance.)

  24.   *  You may use <E>nter to add messages to the room.
  25.  
  26.  This <G>oto- <N>ew- <E>nter cycle may be continued until you arrive back
  27. in the Lobby. You don't have to read everything every time; if you miss a room
  28. this call, the contents will still be "new" on your next call.
  29.  
  30.   *  Use <T>erminate to leave the system.
  31.  
  32.   *  Hidden in the ".Help ?" files are special incantations to do all sorts of
  33. obscure things.  But the above sequence covers most normal use.
